What an amazing year chasing Arctic Char in the North Maine Woods! I had the pleasure of taking five groups of folks up into the middle of nowhere to chase one of the rarest and most difficult fish to find and catch in the lower 48 of the US. We had an amazing camp set up, ate great food, enjoyed campfires, bourbon, and cigars in the silence of the wilderness. Camp is only a short drive from the trailhead to the pond, where we enjoy a mile hike through old growth forest to the pond. Canoes and fishing deep are the name of the game and boy did we do well! Everyone was fortunate enough to land a char as well as many brook trout. Maine is the last remaining state (as far as I could find) with native Arctic Char (Blueback Trout/Sunapee Trout) in the continental United States and all of the water that holds them is difficult to find and access. 2026 is filling up fast with six different groups already on the books in August and September. I do have some limited dates left in September with more availability in August. Two night minimum, $1000/person all inclusive!
