Boy it has been some kind of warm here in Maine. Water temps have risen to about as high as they will get all year and the fish have retreated to their summer holding areas of deep pools and runs and spring holes. They are still there and can still be caught, although it can be more difficult and slow. Going small often does the trick. Good numbers of caddis are still hatching on the rivers (I've seen small black caddis and zebra caddis to go with olive and tan body caddis), I've also seen a good number of sulfurs on the river and still some drakes on select ponds. Early morning and right at dusk have been the most productive times. It will stay this way until mid September and the pre-spawn. It is a great time to be here in Maine, it is beautiful, the weather is nice and fishing is always good!
