Join me on a trip into the remote North Maine Woods for the rare Arctic Char (Blueback Trout), one of Maine's rarest fish as there are only a dozen bodies of water left that maintain a native population! This is a multi-day overnight trip into the North Maine Woods with about a one mile hike into the pond. Fly fishing is the preferred method with heavy sinking line and streamers, although jigging and trolling are also successful techniques. The char start to turn a bright beautiful orange in September as they prepare for the spawn. The color of these fish is quite magnificent and is seen in no other fish in Maine.
Trip is $400/person/day and includes transportation, gear, gate fees, food, at a comfortable primitive camp set up near the trailhead.
